Briefly about Ussuriysk
| Ussuriysk is the third most populated city in Primorsky Krai in Russia. Located on the river Rakovka, in 112 km from Vladivostok. A large railway junction of TRANS-Siberian railway. The population of 152,9 thousand people, 89,89% Russian, or 4.54% of Ukrainians.

Based in 1866 year as the village Nikol, named after the Church founded here, of Nicholas the miracle worker. In 1898 year he received the city status and the name Nikolsk-Ussuri (to distinguish it from the city name Nikol, located in the Volgograd region). In 1935 year was renamed awkwardly in honor of the Soviet commander Voroshilov. In 1957 year, he received a new name - the Ussuriysk, at the location in Ussuri region (from the river Ussuri). |
